Katarina Avbar, born in Novo mesto, working and living in Ljubljana, has been present on Slovenia’s music scene since the year of 2005. At that point she composed music for the dance theater play PLES ali IŠČE se Lily Marlen (trans: “Looking for Lily Marlen) choreographed by Rosana Hribar. Since then regular shows followed, performing as a singer-songwriter. Most noticed: Slovenian festival chanson 2007, Kantfest 7 (2010), Kantfest 8 (2010), Rokerji pojejo pesnike, Slovenian writers association … Her song “Ne reci nič” (trans.: “Don’t say a word”) was performed on chanson festival La Vie en Rose in 2008 and 2011 by Vesna Zornik, the lead singer of Katalena. Since 2009 she’s been working on a project “Poslušaj” (tran.: “Listen”) in Glej theater that features workshops studying theater and film music. Katarina released a debut album as a singer-songwriter entitled “Beležnica” (trans.: “Notebook”), which represents a true document of time we live in, full of reflections, various stories of life, filled with humor and tragic. The debut was released in association with a musician and producer Peter Dekleva. Peter Dekleva is a Slovenian guitarist, songwriter and a producer who currently plays for Srečna mladina, Adam, Gušti, DMP and Golem and has been working with most of the acknowledged musicians in Slovenia.
